Government, HEAR US, Beauty PROs are SERVICE ARTISTS not miscellaneous!

If you are a cosmetologist in NY State, you are categorized under, MISCELLANEOUS, sometimes referred to as miscellaneous services. For instance, others in the same grouping include car wash attendants, doormen, cleaners, repair, etc.
Miscellaneous is defined as consisting of diverse things.
Diversity is great, but without appropriate classification alongside similarly based occupations, guidelines and laws governing the group is confusing or all together nonexistent. These professions will never be guided the same way by a governing entity.
This fact isn’t a problem, until it’s a problem and the truth is, classifying appropriately with realistic choices for our own industry professionals will promote better expectations, accountability, bookkeeping and therefore benefits. Be part of the change. Sign our petition to be classified as our newly proposed group of, SERVICE ARTS.
SERVICE ARTS is for those of us in NYS, working in, and/or owning businesses specifically in the Appearance Enhancement Industry.
Getting our SERVICE ARTS classification is the first step to helping bridge the gap and lay down options that will work, by SERVICE ARTISTS for SERVICE ARTISTS. We understand each other. It is up to us to make sure we are heard, understood and respected for our craft. Respect begins with an appropriate title and class.
Please sign, share and encourage others who are passionate about our SERVICE ARTS Industry to do the same.
